The Forsyth County Friends of the Library (FOL) exists to support the programs and resources of our local public library. The cost of a yearly individual membership is $10.00; a family membership is $15.00. Membership entitles the holder to gain advance entry to the semi-annual book sales sponsored by the FOL. Funds generated by the FOL are re-directed into the library programs and resources. Two general membership meetings will be held each year. The minutes and by-laws are on public display in the library. The Forsyth County Library FOL is registered with the state of Georgia and FOLUSA - Friends of the Library USA.

• Tuesday, May 6th @ 6:30 p.m. – Cumming Meeting Room
• Tuesday, October 21st @ 6:30 p.m. – Cumming Meeting Room

2008 FOL BOOK SALE DATES:

• Spring Book Sale: Saturday and Sunday, April 26th and 27th, in the public meeting room of the Cumming Branch from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
  
• Fall Book Sale: Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th, in the public meeting room of the Cumming Branch from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

2008 PREVIEW OF BOOK SALES
FOR FOL MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS:

• Friday, April 25th at the Cumming Branch from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  
• Friday, October 10th at the Cumming Branch from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

RECENT FOL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• The FOL donated funds for Books for the Vacation Reading Program.
• The FOL sponsored the kickoff of the Summer Showcase Programs for the Summer Reading Club for both branches.
• The FOL sponsored Teen Programs.
• The FOL donated funds to two libraries in Mississippi damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
• The FOL funded electronic equipment and costumes to enhance our staff programs and events.
• The FOL participates in the Forsyth County Certified Literate Community program fundraiser, Spell Check Live!, by sponsoring the “Library Lexicons” team. Our Lexicons have been the county winners for two out of four years!

SPECIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

• The Friends of the Library have the distinction of contributing the initial $1000 donation to the newly established Forsyth County Public Library Foundation Fund.
• Funds were donated to the Master Gardeners to create a Nature Trail and Garden at the Sharon Forks Branch.
• Funds were donated to the library to replace trees at the Cumming Branch.
  

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY APPLICATION

The library can never have too many friends. FOL welcomes the application of new members and renewals from old friends. The Forsyth County Library FOL is registered with the State of Georgia and FOLUSA – Friends of the Library USA. Support the Library with a Friends Membership! Donations of books or dollars are tax deductible.
