For Netscape and Internet Explorer 5 and 6:

FindIt@FCPL - Install this Cool Tool to your browser and quickly check library availability of books discovered at compatible online book stores such as Amazon.com or BarnesAndNoble.com.

To install this tool, drag this link onto your browser's links toolbar (Just clicking the link won't work. This link is a bookmarklet -- a little bit of JavaScript code. You "install" it by dragging it to your browser's link toolbar.): FindIt@FCPL

After you've "installed" FindIt@FCPL in this way, you can look up books at the Forsyth County Public Library and place them on hold if desired. Whenever you are shopping online for books, pull up the book store's information about the book of interest (this page should contain the book's ISBN in the URL), then just click the "FindIt@FCPL" bookmarklet in your link toolbar and you'll see whether FCPL has it! The bookmarklet will invoke your library's lookup service, feed it the ISBN from the bookstore's info page, and pop up a new window with the FCPL iPac search result. For more information, see tips below.

SearchFCPL - Install this Cool Tool to your browser and quickly search the library catalog for terms found while visiting other web sites online.

Suppose you are reading an article on your favorite news site and come upon a person's name or a location that you would like to learn more about. Now, from most web sites, you can highlight the word or phrase of interest and initiate a keyword search of the FCPL catalog with a single click using the SearchFCPL bookmarklet tool. In the event that you are visiting a web page that will not allow this method, clicking on the SearchFCPL bookmarklet will trigger a search prompt box into which you can type or paste the keyword of interest.

To install this tool, drag this link onto your browser's links toolbar (Just clicking the link won't work. This link is a bookmarklet -- a little bit of JavaScript code. You "install" it by dragging it to your browser's link toolbar.): SearchFCPL

*SearchFCPL is made possible by modification of The LibraryLookup Tool. The LibraryLookup Tool, promoted by John Udell, has been modified to allow FCPL patrons to quickly check availability of a book at the library prior to purchasing it online.
