To optimize your browser you need to:
1. Determine your browser version
2.
Verify that your browser is recommended or choose to continue with
non-recommended browser
3.
Prepare your browser settings for viewing ForsythPL.Org and Premium
Databases
4. Download the appropriate plug-ins for your purposes
Determine Your Browser Version
To determine browser version:
- Open your browser
- From the browser menu bar, select
Help
- Select About. If there are
several, choose the one about your browser. A screen will appear
that shows your browser name and version.
Recommended Brower Versions
Note: The recommended browser for viewing the FCPL website and
Premium Databases is Internet Explorer 5.x or higher. Some areas of
website and Premium Database programming are catered to the features
available in this browser. Additionally, staff are best prepared to
assist patrons in using Internet Explorer in a Windows environment.

Plug-in Downloads
Some parts of the FCPL web site
and several Premium Databases use browser plug-ins. To view
portions of these sites, you may need one or more of the plug-ins
below. Browsers
will often automatically download any
plug-in required by a particular page or prompt
you to download the plug-in manually.
Adobe Acrobat Reader
View, navigate, and print Adobe PDF files across all major computing
platforms. Adobe PDF documents are used in some parts of the FCPL web site
and in several Premium Databases.

DjVu Browser Plug-in
Some Premium Databases such as the Georgia Digital Library require
the use of the free DjVu Browser Plug-in from Lizardtech.

ExpressView Browser Plug-in (formerly known as
MrSID Browser Plug-in)
Free Plug-in for Viewing MrSID imagery, which is used in some
Premium Databases.
