Public Meeting Rooms
Both branches have public meeting rooms that can accommodate
approximately 90 people. Please call the Meeting Room
Extension at the branch most convenient to you to discuss making a
reservation (770-781-9840, extension 9512 for Cumming
or extension 9522 for Sharon
Forks). The Policy and Conditions for Use can be viewed below.
We welcome use of our meeting room facilities by
organizations for activities of a civic, cultural, or educational nature.
A variety of audio-visual and projection equipment may be used. Ask at
the Information Desk for details on our policy,
registration, and scheduling.

The meeting rooms of the Forsyth County Public Library are
available primarily for library-sponsored programs and staff use. They are also
available for use by non-library groups whose primary address is located in
Forsyth County for meetings that are open to the public to include those of an
educational, cultural, religious, political or civic nature.
In determining the use of the room, the library does not
discriminate against persons or groups on the basis of sex, color, race,
religion, ancestry, national origin, age or disability.
The Library Board delegates the authority to set conditions
for room use to the Director.
Any group’s use of the meeting rooms does not constitute the
Library’s endorsement of that group’s credentials, policies or beliefs.
Conditions for the Use of Forsyth County Public
Library Meeting Rooms Approved August 2002 (Implemented 10/1/02,
Revised 6/13/03)
- Rooms will only be available if there is no
library-sponsored activity scheduled.
- Meeting rooms must be reserved in advance. Generally,
the adult who will be in charge of the group’s meeting or event may reserve
the rooms during the current calendar year up to once per week
- Scheduled events may be pre-empted should a special
election be called, as the meeting rooms are
designated polling sites in Forsyth County.
- All functions held in the Library’s meeting rooms must
be freely open to the general public.
- No organization using the meeting room will
discriminate on the basis on the basis of sex, color, race, religion,
ancestry, national origin, age or disability.
- Groups using the room may not charge a fee for
admission or accept donations for their group. Dues and materials fees are
permitted. (See FCPL Administration – Solicitations for Charity or Support
Policy.)
- All publicity must prominently display the name of the
organization sponsoring the meeting. Library sponsorship may not be
indicated or implied. Publicity must state that the program is open to the
public.
- Neither the name nor the address of the library may be
used as the official address or headquarters of the organization.
- Groups may pass out informational literature such as a
business card. It is not permissible for groups to obtain the names, phone
numbers, or addresses of attendees by any means.
- Attendance must not exceed posted capacity of the room.
- Youth organizations must have one adult (18 or over)
present at all times for every 10 children present.
- Events must not interfere with regular library
operations (e.g. noise, overcrowding of parking lot).
- If a meeting or event in progress does disturb regular
library operations, the Library reserves the right to immediately terminate
the meeting or event. The group, upon notification of a disturbance, will
immediately discontinue the disturbance or vacate the premises.
- Those using the meeting room are responsible for
setting up chairs & tables, cleaning up after themselves, and leaving the
room as found to include the removal of their trash.
- A library staff member will inspect the room before and
after use by the group and any damage will be reported to the adult who made
the reservation. All costs for repairing any damage occurring during use by
the group shall be paid by the group. If janitorial services are required
following use, the group shall also pay the cost of such services.
- Smoking is prohibited in the Forsyth County Public
Library facilities.
- Light refreshments are permitted such as coffee, tea,
juice, soft drinks, pastries or fruit. Other food products must be approved
in advance.
- If requested at the time of reservation, library owned
audio-visual equipment may be available and staff will assist in setup.
- The Library reserves the right to deny future access to
Library facilities if a group fails to comply with all policies.
