Dr. Eugene Van Sickle will explore the real and broad history of piracy between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, giving special attention to the romanticized figures of the “Golden Age” of pirates in the Atlantic World.
About Dr. Eugene Van Sickle:
Dr. Eugene Van Sickle is a History, Anthropology, and Philosophy professor and the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Programs at the University of North Georgia. In 2005, he earned his doctorate from West Virginia University. His research interests center on colonization during the early nineteenth century in the Atlantic World.
