Are you a permanent resident ready to apply for citizenship? If you meet the eligibility requirements below, you can meet personally with an immigration advocate from Asian Americans Advancing Justice Atlanta (AAAJ) to review your naturalization application and receive filing instructions and civics study materials. All nationalities are welcome!

*This is on an appointment basis; walk-ins will not be served. You must register*

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old at the time of filing Form N-400, Application for Naturalization.
  • Be a permanent resident (have a “Green Card”) for at least 5 years or 3 years if you adjusted through marriage.
  • Show that you have lived for at least 3 months in the state or USCIS district where you apply.
  • Demonstrate continuous residence in the United States for at least 5 years.
  • Show that you have been physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the last 5 years.
  • Be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
  • Have a basic understanding of U.S. history and government (civics).
  • Be a person of good moral character.

Interested lawful permanent residents applying for naturalization must register to receive assistance.

Step 1: Registration

In order to be contacted by a staff member or volunteer, applicants must register and complete the form.

Step 2: Eligibility

After the applicant has completed the registration form, an AAAJ staff member or volunteer will verify the naturalization eligibility over the phone or Zoom. All the information collected is confidential.

Step 3: Naturalization application completion

If the applicant is eligible to apply for naturalization and the workshop, the applicant will be directed to complete the citizenship application through the online platform.

Step 4: Fee waiver

The fee waiver reduces the filing fee applicants are required to pay to USCIS. To verify the eligibility, applicants are required to have file 2021 taxes or receive a public benefit such as food stamps. An AAAJ staff member will complete the fee waiver application over Zoom with eligible applicants.

Step 5: Legal review

Applicants who completed the naturalization application and fee waiver, if applicable, will meet personally with an AAAJ immigration advocate to review the applications thoroughly and provide legal assistance in the listed location. The filing instructions and civics study materials advice will be provided for free on-site.

*This is on an appointment basis; walk-ins will not be served. You must register*
