Prepare for an afternoon of discovery! Local metal detecting enthusiasts, Mary & Marty Adams, will share the secrets of the hobby—from necessary gear to the "thrill of the find." Learn the "Code of the Detectorist," including how to obtain permission and leave the land exactly as you found it. After viewing a showcase of real-life recoveries, you can participate in our Wheat Penny Discovery Challenge to hunt for rare mint marks and keep a genuine piece of American history! Keep a sharp eye out for the legendary 1943 Steel Penny—a rare "silver" penny made during World War II that you’ll have to see (and test with a magnet) to believe!

This event will require event passes. Event passes are free and available to participants on the day of the program. They will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting 30 minutes before the event start time.
