There are more than 4,600 dams in Georgia; only four states (Texas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma) have more dams. Out of these, 357 are watershed dams, with seventeen located in Forsyth County. With the abundance of watershed dams in the area, proper precautions and planning ensures that people and property remain safe. Learn how to be safe around dams for recreation and home ownership from Amanda McPherson from Forsyth County Soil Conservation. The presentation will be followed by a demonstration of a dam breach with an enviroscape.

Amanda McPherson works for Forsyth County Soil Conservation and has a background in soil science and sustainable agriculture. She is passionate about using natural areas according to their greatest potential.
