In this talk on Chinese American visual arts, Dr. Yanfei Zhu will discuss works of art by prominent and emerging female artists and designers. The group includes Chinese that lived in the United States for an extended period of time, first-generation immigrants, and American-born artists of Chinese descent. Some of the artists are Tseng Yu-ho (1924-2017), Hung Liu (1948-2021), Bernice Bing (1936-1998), Maya Lin (b. 1959), Patty Chang (b.1972), and Gabrielle Widjaja.
About Yanfei Zhu
Yanfei Zhu is Associate Professor of Art History in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of North Georgia, Dahlonega. His research interests lie primarily in the fields of modern Chinese art, print culture, historiography, and comparative studies. His writings have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and encyclopedias. He obtained his BA in museum studies from Fudan University (Shanghai) and MA and PhD in Chinese art history from the Ohio State University.
