Celebrate Bat Week with experts Larry and Laurie Alvord to learn all about the lives of bats! Georgia has sixteen species of these flying mammals, several of which can be found in Forsyth County. Join us for our presentation, followed by a walk outside as we listen for bat calls at sunset with our ultrasonic bat detector.
This program is for adults only.
About the presenters: Larry Alvord has 36 years of experience in research and development doing material testing in the medical device industry. Laurie Alvord has a broad range of experiences utilizing her degrees in engineering and education. She ran her own business and later developed curriculum for early childhood education and professional trainings for adults. Together, Larry and Laurie joined the Forsyth County Master Naturalist Extension Volunteers in 2018. They have worked on a variety of community projects, including the recently initiated bat conservation project. Larry and Laurie are also members of the Georgia Bat Working Group and want to bring public awareness of the importance of bats.
