Denmark Meeting RoomThis month's topic is "Internationalist or Isolationist? A Thematic Discussion of US Foreign Policy Throughout Its 250 Year History," presented by Dr. Jon Miner.
The diplomatic history of the United States shows certain threads and themes running through it from the time of our founding to the current day. Isolationism and internationalism and the struggle between these competing agendas affects how U.S. foreign policy operates. During different periods, isolationism and internationalism have been either in ascendence or regression as different presidents and societal views reacted to the world. This lecture examines these competing ideas and others as it looks at the broad scope of American foreign policy.
