Join Hot Jam dancers to learn about the origins of Lindy Hop, one of the original styles of swing dance invented and made popular by Black dancers in Harlem. The culture of Lindy Hop is one based in the community, so this program encourages audience participation. Hot Jam dancers will discuss the history of the Lindy Hop, lead patrons in a group activity, and demonstrate the Shim Sham, a historic choreography.

Hot Jam is a weekly swing dance session held in a warehouse in Atlanta. Vintage jazz dances such as Lindy Hop, Balboa, Blues and Charleston are the passions of Hot Jam dancers.

The Origins of Swing Dance - Presented by Hot Jam is part of Forsyth County Public Library's Celebrating Black Heritage series.
