Evolution of the Presidency: The development and changes in the office of the President from George Washington until now affects politics both domestically and abroad. This presentation will provide an overview of some of the evolution of the Presidency and why that matters.

Understanding America is a program series dedicated to educating the public and encouraging discussions on American politics and government. These programs will be on the first Sunday of every month at 2:00 p.m. at the Sharon Forks Library. Each program will consist of 45 minutes of presentation by a University of North Georgia professor following 45 minutes of a roundtable discussion on the topic of the month.

This program is intended for adults and high school students.

Dr. Cavalli came to North Georgia College (as it was then known) in 1993 and is currently a Professor at the University of North Georgia. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His professional and teaching interests lie in the areas of the presidency, Congress, political parties, and federal elections.
