Federalism and Its Impacts on the System: Federalism, the division of powers between the different levels of government, continually changes due to the Courts, Congress, and emerging policy areas. This presentation provides an introduction to the role of federalism in the system and the reason why changes in the division of powers still matters.
Understanding America is a program series dedicated to educating the public and encouraging discussions on American politics and government. These programs will be on the first Sunday of every month at 2:00 p.m. at the Sharon Forks Library. Each program will consist of 45 minutes of presentation by a University of North Georgia professor following 45 minutes of a roundtable discussion on the topic of the month.
This program is intended for adults and high school students.
This month's topic is Federalism and Its Impacts on the System presented by Dr. Charles "Trey" Wilson. Charles H. “Trey” Wilson III, J.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Political Science at the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus. He joined the UNG faculty in August 2007, after teaching at the former Gainesville State College for several years. He earned his Ph.D. in social science education from the University of Georgia. Additionally, he holds an M.A. in history from the University of Georgia, an M.S. in the history of technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an M.P.A. from North Georgia College and State University, and a J.D. from the University of Toledo.
