Backpacking 101 is a virtual program intended for adults with little to no experience in backpacking and for those who want to know more about the activity. This program will be presented by Erica Lanier from Georgia State Parks. She will discuss proper clothing, necessary gear to bring, safety tips, top 10 tips from the expert, and recommendations on local sites that are great for beginners and local resources for backpackers of all levels.

Erica Lanier earned her BA from Georgia College & State University in 2013 in Musuem Studies. She earned her MA in Museum Education from Middle Tennessee State University in 2016. While completing her master's degree, she was awarded the "Best Educational Programming" in 2015 by the Tennessee Association of Museums. She has spent the last fourteen years working in an informal education setting, with the last four years at Panola Mountain State Park. While there she has been awarded "Best Year-Round Programming" in 2019 and "Outstanding Programming Efforts" in 2020 by Georgia State Parks. Her hobbies include kayaking, hiking, reading, and bird watching.
