Religion has been one of the strongest cultural forces in the lives of Appalachians. Join us for an informative evening with Dr. Barry Whittemore from the University of North Georgia as he explains the various types of religion practiced in the Appalachian Mountains and how religion has shaped the region's culture.
About Dr. Barry Whittemore
Dr. Whittemore began teaching at the university in January 2011. His goal at UNG is to identify, train, and motivate undergraduates to pursue the wide open field of the history of Appalachian Georgia. His greatest pleasure comes from traditional southern mountain Old Time music and dance. He and his cat live happily in a cabin in the woods.
